Harnessing Sunlight to Transform Methane into Valuable Chemicals
A new catalyst powered by sunlight has been developed that can turn methane into valuable chemicals. This catalyst, developed by scientists at Chalmers University of Technology, could be used to produce high-value chemicals from methane on an industrial scale. The catalyst is composed of two metals, ruthenium and nickel, and is capable of converting methane to higher-value chemicals with an efficiency of up to 96%. The scientists believe this high efficiency could make this catalyst an attractive option for industries looking to produce high-value chemicals from methane.
