Scientists have discovered that a species of bacteria known as Deinococcus radiodurans can survive in water with concentrations of radioactive elements up to 1000 times higher than what is normally considered safe. This is an incredible feat, as the bacteria can survive extreme levels of radiation, heat, and cold.
