Exploring the Mechanical Properties of Molybdenum Disulfide
Scientists have discovered a new way to explore the mechanical properties of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2). It has long been known that MoS2 is an excellent conductor of electricity and has a wide range of applications, but its mechanical properties have remained largely unexplored. In a new study, published in the journal ACS Nano, researchers from the University of Cambridge have developed a method of measuring the mechanical properties of MoS2 and have found that it is surprisingly tough and flexible. The new technique could have important implications for the development of new electronic devices and materials.
