Exploring the Perceptions of Pre-Service Teachers on Peer Reaction
The way pre-service teachers view their peers can have a huge impact on their success in the classroom. A new study has found that pre-service teachers’ perceptions of how their peers react to their teaching skills and strategies can be a very important factor in their overall confidence and effectiveness in the classroom. The study, conducted by researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, found that pre-service teachers who felt supported and respected by their peers had increased confidence in their teaching abilities and overall teaching effectiveness. Furthermore, the study showed that pre-service teachers who felt that their peers reacted negatively to their teaching strategies were more likely to feel discouraged and less confident in their teaching abilities. These findings suggest that providing a supportive and encouraging environment for pre-service teachers is key to helping them become successful educators.
