A faint dwarf galaxy, Donatiello II, has been discovered in the constellation of Leo by an international team of astronomers. Donatiello II is the faintest galaxy ever detected and is almost 10,000 times fainter than the Milky Way. The galaxy is located about 18 million light-years from Earth and has a stellar mass of about one hundred thousandth of the Milky Way. It is the second smallest galaxy ever detected and is believed to be the remnant of a larger galaxy that was disrupted by interactions with the Milky Way. The discovery of Donatiello II gives astronomers a unique opportunity to study the evolution of small galaxies in our local universe.
