The image shows the blaze near the city of Viseu in the center of the country, the smoke billowing up from the orange-and-red flames in the dark of night. According to the ESA, the fire was detected by the satellite on August 13th, and the image was taken at 10:25 UTC. The agency also notes that the Sentinel-2 mission is designed to map the Earth’s land surfaces and detect changes, making it a valuable tool in monitoring natural disasters like wildfires.
