Richard Branson's Virgin Orbit Announces Job Cuts
Virgin Orbit, a subsidiary of Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, has announced that it will be reducing its workforce by approximately 30%. This comes as the company looks to streamline its operations and focus on its core mission of launching small satellites into orbit. The job cuts will affect staff in both the US and the UK, with some positions being eliminated completely. In a statement, Virgin Orbit CEO Dan Hart said that the company was “committed to ensuring that our team are supported throughout this transition and will be providing generous severance packages and outplacement services to those affected.” This news comes as Virgin Orbit continues to make strides in the small satellite industry, recently launching its first mission for the US Air Force.
