As the world continues to grapple with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to identify and explore new zoonotic diseases is becoming increasingly apparent. AI can be used to scan a variety of datasets which contain information about the genetic and environmental factors associated with animal-to-human disease transmission, allowing us to identify and investigate potential new disease-causing agents. AI can even be used to analyze data from surveillance systems, such as those used to track the transmission of diseases from animals to humans. This can help us better understand the links between animal and human diseases and aid in the development of strategies to prevent and control zoonotic diseases.
