A team of paleontologists has just revealed the evolution of the brain of the oldest known spinosaur, a dinosaur that lived approximately 115 million years ago. This discovery provides insight into the development of the brains of the earliest spinosaurs, and how they might have adapted to their environment. The team used high-resolution CT scans to analyze the inner structure of the skull, which revealed that the brain of the dinosaur had evolved from a more primitive reptilian-like brain to a more complex, mammalian-like brain. This evolution allowed the spinosaur to better process and respond to its environment, possibly allowing it to better hunt for prey.
