Unlocking the Possibilities of High Harmonics Generation with New Nonlinear Technologies
Today, researchers have developed a technology that can generate high-order harmonic signals in a nonlinear medium—in this case, a highly-doped semiconductor. This technology can be used to produce high-frequency signals, potentially opening up a range of new applications in fields such as communications, imaging, and sensing. The new technique could also be used to enable better control of device characteristics for applications such as lasers and optical modulators. In the study, the researchers demonstrated that the harmonic signals generated by the technology were more than ten times higher than those generated by conventional methods. This breakthrough could lead to a range of exciting new applications in the future.
