Using AI to Create a Simpler Way to Mimic Aspects of Human Vision
Scientists have long sought to develop machines with vision that can rival that of humans. Now, a new study released by the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) has unveiled a new approach to creating machines capable of replicating some of our abilities in terms of visual perception. The research team, led by Professor Stefan Wermter, has developed a new method for creating neural networks that are simpler and more efficient than existing approaches. These networks are able to replicate certain aspects of human vision, such as recognizing objects in images and predicting the future based on past experiences. The team believes their work could have significant implications for the development of artificial intelligence.
