Unveiling the Mysteries of Pulsars at the Center of the Milky Way
Have you ever wondered what lies at the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way? Astronomers have now found evidence that it could be a trio of pulsars, or rapidly spinning neutron stars, orbiting a supermassive black hole! In a new study published in Nature Astronomy, researchers used X-ray observations from the Chandra X-ray Observatory to detect the three pulsars, which are located just one-tenth of a light year from the Milky Way’s supermassive black hole. This is the closest trio of pulsars ever found near the center of a galaxy.
