NASA’s Pluto team has recently made a breakthrough discovery at the edge of our Solar System. By using the Hubble Space Telescope, they have mapped the outer limits of the Kuiper belt, the ring of icy objects that encircle the sun. The team discovered evidence of a new population of small icy objects, some of which could be as large as 300 miles in diameter. This new data could help us to better understand how our Solar System formed and evolved. It also has implications for our understanding of the formation of exoplanets and other planetary systems. Excitingly, these newfound objects could be the targets of future space exploration missions!
