NASA’s Parker Solar Probe is about to embark on a revolutionary journey to unlock the mysteries of the Sun’s corona. On Tuesday, September 30th, the spacecraft will launch from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, beginning an unprecedented mission to explore the outermost region of the Sun’s atmosphere. The Parker Solar Probe will be the first spacecraft ever to fly directly into the Sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere, and will provide scientists with an unprecedented opportunity to observe the Sun’s activity up close. The probe is equipped with a suite of instruments designed to measure the properties of the Sun’s corona, such as its magnetic field, temperature, and particle composition. With these measurements, scientists hope to gain a better understanding of the Sun’s role in shaping our Solar System, and the impact of its activity on Earth and other planets.
