A new approach has been developed to discover drugs that are effective against previously inaccessible druggable targets. This new approach, described in a paper published in the journal Science, reveals a new strategy for drug discovery by combining chemical biology and machine learning. The team behind the study, led by scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), used a combination of high-throughput screening and artificial intelligence to identify molecules that could be used to target druggable proteins that are thought to be undruggable. This study provides an exciting new approach to drug discovery, and could lead to the development of novel therapies for the treatment of a range of diseases.
