Coronaviruses: What We Know Now and What We Can Expect in 2023
The novel coronavirus has been a major health concern since it was first identified in late 2019. In the time since, scientists have been working to better understand the virus and how it affects humans. Now, a new study has revealed some promising insights into how different coronaviruses interact with one another.
The study, conducted by a research team from the University of Manchester, looked at the genomes of more than 100 different coronaviruses and found that some coronaviruses are able to swap genetic material with one another. This could have implications for how future coronaviruses evolve and spread, as well as the potential for rapid adaptation to new hosts.
