The Unforeseen Risks of Pesticide Exposure for Inexperienced Cannabis Farmers
In recent years, the legalization of cannabis cultivation has been on the rise across the United States. However, many inexperienced cannabis farmers have been exposed to unsafe levels of pesticides and other chemicals while trying to grow their crops. A new study, published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, has found that, even at levels below the legal limit, exposure to certain pesticides can have negative health effects. The study looked at workers exposed to these pesticides in a legal cannabis facility in California and found that those who had less experience working with pesticides were more likely to experience adverse health effects, such as respiratory and skin irritation. The researchers suggest that the state should consider providing more educational resources to inexperienced cannabis farmers to help them protect their health.
