A new study conducted by researchers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics has provided us with some fascinating insights into an ancient asteroid from the early Solar System. Dating back to 4.5 billion years ago, this asteroid - referred to as “Theia” - is believed to have collided with what is now the Earth and given birth to the Moon. By studying the mineralogical and chemical composition of meteorites related to Theia, the researchers were able to gain valuable insights into the asteroid’s origin and evolution. These insights provide us with a unique glimpse into the early history of our Solar System.
