Introducing a Centralized Pollination Portal to Help Save the Global Bee Population
A new centralized pollination portal, the Global Bee Network, is being developed to help protect and monitor the world’s bee populations. The portal, backed by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), will provide a platform for scientists, beekeepers, farmers, and government agencies to share data on bee populations and pollination services. This unprecedented, global network will create a comprehensive understanding of the state of bee populations and their role in sustaining global food systems. The portal will also facilitate collaboration between stakeholders on research projects, conservation efforts, and the implementation of new technologies to protect bee populations and their habitats. With the Global Bee Network, we can finally create a coordinated and unified effort to protect the health of the world’s bee populations.
