NASA to Reveal Crew for First Flight to the Moon in 2023
Today, NASA has made an exciting announcement: the agency has just revealed the crew of the first flight to the moon in over 50 years! Astronauts Joe Acaba, Victor Glover, Kate Rubins, and Michael Hopkins will be taking the historic voyage in 2023. This mission will be the first crewed flight to the moon since the final Apollo mission in 1972.
The four astronauts have years of experience between them and a shared passion for space exploration. Glover is a former naval aviator with over 3,000 flight hours, while Acaba is a former teacher who has spent over 204 days in space. Rubins is a molecular biologist who has conducted research on the International Space Station, and Hopkins is a decorated Air Force colonel who has spent 166 days in space.
NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine had this to say: “This is an incredibly exciting time for NASA and our partners as we return American astronauts to the Moon for the first time in decades. The Artemis team is working hard to make this mission a success, and I look forward to seeing these four astronauts launch into space next year.”
We can’t wait to see what this historic mission holds - stay tuned for more updates!
