NASA recently announced the completion of their Super Pressure Balloon (SPB) mission. This mission is an ambitious project designed to study the environment of the stratosphere, as well as the effects of cosmic radiation on the atmosphere. The SPB was launched on May 17th, 2023, and is expected to fly for up to one year, reaching an altitude of over 110,000 feet. The balloon will be carrying a suite of scientific instruments that will measure the temperature, pressure, and composition of the atmosphere. Data collected from this mission will help scientists understand the impact of human activities on the stratosphere, as well as provide valuable insight into global climate change. This mission is an incredible scientific achievement, and we can’t wait to learn what it reveals.
