NASA's Lucy Spacecraft to Make Historic Flyby of Asteroid in 2023
NASA is set to launch its historic Lucy mission in October of 2023. The mission will see the spacecraft fly past seven asteroids in the Trojan asteroid group, which are located near the orbit of Jupiter. This is the first time a spacecraft will be visiting a group of objects like this, and the mission could provide unprecedented insight into the history of the solar system. Scientists hope to gain valuable information about the formation of planets and the early stages of our solar system. The spacecraft will be equipped with cameras and spectrometers to study the asteroids and gather data. The mission is expected to last 12 years, and the data gathered could help us gain a better understanding of the evolution of our solar system.
