Today marks a special day for the space exploration community: the official naming of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. This new telescope, formerly known as the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST), is set to launch in 2025 and will be “the premier observatory of the 2020s,” according to NASA. Named after Nancy Grace Roman, the first chief astronomer of NASA, the telescope is the agency’s next big step towards unlocking the mysteries of the universe. This new telescope will enable us to gain a deeper understanding of dark energy, exoplanets, and more. We are so excited to see what this new telescope will discover!
