Ireland to Launch Own Satellite: EIRSAT-1 to Take Off in 2023
The countdown to lift off of Ireland’s first satellite, EIRSAT-1, has begun! On December 2023, EIRSAT-1 will be launched into space, marking the first time that Ireland has sent a satellite into orbit. This project is a collaborative effort between researchers from University College Dublin (UCD), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and Cork Institute of Technology (CIT). The satellite will be used to monitor radiation in the Earth’s atmosphere, which will help scientists better understand climate change. This is an incredibly exciting step forward for Ireland’s space program, as it shows the country’s commitment to advancing space exploration. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
