This is the first of its kind in the country and marks a major milestone for ISRO in its mission to become the first nation to land a spacecraft on the moon’s south pole. The propulsion module was tested for a total of 6 minutes and achieved a maximum thrust of 600 Newton. This will give the lunar lander the thrust it needs to make the journey to the moon’s surface and enter orbit. ISRO’s mission is scheduled to launch later this year and is expected to put India on the map as a major player in the space exploration industry.
