Hubble Views Merging Galactic Trio: A Cosmic Collision
The Hubble Space Telescope has recently captured an incredible view of three galaxies merging together. The galaxies, known as Arp-Madore 2026-424 (AM 2026-424), are located approximately 400 million light-years away in the constellation of Ursa Major. The merging process will take hundreds of millions of years to complete, and the Hubble’s images provide us with a glimpse of the first stages of this merger. The blue and yellow-white regions in the image show regions of star formation, while the red regions show older stars that have already been formed. It’s remarkable to think that this process, which began so long ago, is still ongoing and that we are able to observe it in such detail.
