The Hubble Space Telescope has made a remarkable discovery in our solar system: a tiny asteroid, called Dimorphos, has two distinct boulders on its surface! The asteroid is located in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and is only about 200 meters in diameter. This is the first time an asteroid of this size has been observed with two large boulders. This discovery provides a unique opportunity to study the physical and chemical properties of these rocks and gain insight into how asteroids form and evolve. It could also help inform our understanding of other asteroid systems in our solar system.
