Exploring the Cosmos: A Multi-Wavelength View of Hubble and the James Webb Telescope
NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has just released a stunning new image of the galaxy M106, a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Canes Venatici. This image is the first to be taken with Hubble’s new Multi-Wavelength Image Viewer (MWIV), a tool that combines images from three different wavelengths (visible, infrared, and ultraviolet) to create a single image with an unprecedented level of detail. The MWIV image reveals the galaxy’s intricate structure and reveals a wealth of new information about its star formation history. The image also serves as a preview of the kind of data that will be available when the James Webb Space Telescope launches in 2023.
