NASA to Launch Lunar Orbiter in 2023 to Support Artemis Astronauts
NASA is sending its next lunar orbiter, Artemis, to the moon with a mission to prepare for the arrival of astronauts in 2024. This mission is part of a larger effort to establish a permanent human presence on the moon. The Artemis mission will take the first steps towards this goal by sending a robotic spacecraft to the moon’s orbit to map the lunar surface and scout potential landing sites. The spacecraft will also collect data on the moon’s environment and resources, such as water ice, that could be used to support future lunar missions. With the Artemis mission, NASA will be one step closer to realizing its dream of sending humans to explore the moon and beyond.
