Greenpeace Speaks Out Against Poland's Controversial River Law
Greenpeace has recently slammed Poland for passing a law which allows the country to reduce water flow in the Vistula River. The environmental organization is concerned that this could have a devastating effect on the already endangered species in the river, such as fish, mollusks, and amphibians. The law states that the water flow can be reduced by up to 50% in the summer and autumn, which could have a serious impact on the river’s eco-system. Greenpeace also argued that there are other solutions to the problem of drought, such as improved water management, which should be utilized instead. This law is a major setback for environmental protection in Poland and Greenpeace is calling on the government to reconsider its decision.
