A new study out of the University of Melbourne has identified a key part of the brain that could be responsible for boosting math skills. The research, published in the journal Nature Communications, found that stimulating the brain’s parietal-frontal network could lead to improvements in math performance. This network is responsible for processing numbers and symbols, and is located in the middle and front of the brain. The research team used a technique called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to stimulate the parietal-frontal network in participants, and found that this stimulation led to a significant improvement in their math skills. This study provides an exciting new avenue for research into improving math performance and could lead to better educational outcomes for students.
