Exploring the Possibilities of Lunar- and Solar-Powered Satellites
In a recent study published in the journal Solar Energy, researchers suggest that Lunar and Solar Power Satellites (LSPs and SSPs) could be the answer to providing renewable energy to the Earth. These space-based power sources could be used to provide energy to remote locations that are currently difficult to reach with traditional energy sources. The researchers suggest that these LSPs and SSPs could provide up to 20 times more energy than traditional sources, and could be used to supply energy to areas such as deserts, mountains, and oceans. The study found that these space-based power sources could potentially provide energy to up to 60 percent of the world’s population.
