NASA's Parker Solar Probe Sets a New Standard for Durability
NASA’s Parker Solar Probe is an incredible feat of engineering that will explore the sun and its atmosphere. On August 20th, 2023, the spacecraft will be launched and begin its mission to study the sun’s magnetic field and the solar winds it emits. This mission will be the closest and most durable spacecraft to ever come close to the sun, and it will be able to survive temperatures of up to 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit. The spacecraft is designed with a carbon composite shield to protect it from the sun’s intense heat, and its instruments will measure the solar winds that flow from the sun and how they interact with Earth’s atmosphere. With the help of the Parker Solar Probe, scientists will be able to gain a better understanding of the sun and the solar winds that affect our planet.
