How Extracurricular Activities Can Benefit Children's Development
A recent study conducted by the University of California has found that extracurricular activities may have a positive effect on children’s mental health. The study looked at over 3,000 children between the ages of 5 and 12 and found that those who engaged in extracurricular activities, such as sports, music, and art, were more likely to have better self-esteem and mental health than those who didn’t. The study found that children with higher levels of extracurricular involvement were more likely to describe themselves as “happy” and “confident.” Additionally, the study found that these children were more likely to report better overall mental health than those with lower levels of involvement.
