A new study has revealed an alarming trend in the spread of climate-sensitive diseases between the South and the North. The study, published in Nature Climate Change, found that the number of diseases that are transmitted through changes in weather and climate is increasing. The researchers examined data from 1,209 diseases in 78 countries and found that the number of climate-sensitive diseases had increased by 33 percent since the 1980s. The study also found that the number of diseases being transmitted from the South to the North has increased significantly, with some diseases spreading up to four times faster than the global average. This is especially concerning as the North is often less prepared to deal with these diseases, leading to a greater risk of outbreaks and more severe impacts. The study’s authors urge both the North and the South to work together to mitigate the spread of climate-sensitive diseases.
