The search for efficient catalysts to drive the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is a key challenge for many energy storage and conversion technologies. In a recent breakthrough, researchers from the University of Science and Technology of China have developed a novel carbon-based catalyst that shows excellent ORR activity and stability. The new catalyst has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of energy storage and conversion technologies such as fuel cells and electrolyzers.
