The Brightest Disturbance in the Earth's Atmosphere in a Year: What it Means
This year has seen some of the brightest disturbances to Earth’s atmosphere recorded in our planet’s history. On November 5th, scientists detected a huge surge in the amount of charged particles that were being released into the atmosphere, reaching levels that were far higher than usual. This type of disturbance can have an impact on satellite communications, GPS systems, and the electrical grid. Scientists are still trying to understand the cause of this event, but they believe it could be linked to some sort of solar flare, or a rare phenomenon known as a coronal mass ejection. With so much still unknown, it will be interesting to see what further research reveals about this bright disturbance.
