BepiColombo Prepares to Make Historic Flyby of Mercury
In a few short months, the joint ESA-JAXA mission BepiColombo is set to take off for its historic flyby of Mercury. This mission is set to be the first joint visit to the innermost planet, and scientists are hoping to gain valuable insights into the formation and evolution of the solar system. With the launch date for the mission drawing closer, the team is making sure all preparations are in place for the upcoming flyby. The spacecraft is equipped with a suite of instruments, including cameras and spectrometers, that will be used to study the surface, atmosphere, and environment of the planet. Additionally, the spacecraft will be able to detect and measure the weak magnetic field of Mercury. With all the data that is set to be collected by BepiColombo, scientists are eager to observe and learn more about our solar system’s innermost planet.
