Asteroid on Course to Pass Uncomfortably Close to Earth in July 2023
On July 7th, 2023, a large asteroid will pass uncomfortably close to Earth. This asteroid, known as 2021 KT1, is estimated to be up to 400 meters in diameter – making it one of the largest asteroids to ever pass this close to Earth. Scientists are monitoring 2021 KT1 closely and have determined that the asteroid will pass within 8 lunar distances of Earth, making this a potentially dangerous situation. If the asteroid were to collide with Earth, the impact would be devastating. Fortunately, scientists have concluded that the asteroid is not on a collision course with Earth, and it is expected to safely pass our planet.
