New Technology to Remediate Stubborn Chemicals with Advanced Electrode Technology
The world around us is filled with chemicals that can be incredibly difficult to remove from the environment. Many of these stubborn chemicals, like per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), can be hazardous to human health. A new advanced electrode remediation technology is offering a potential solution. Developed by researchers at the University of Central Florida, this technology uses a combination of electrodes, oxygen, and electricity to break down and remove PFASs from water. The system is designed to reduce the amount of PFASs in contaminated water to below the EPA’s health advisories. Not only is this technology effective, but it is also cost-effective and can be implemented quickly, making it a viable solution for many contaminated sites in need of PFAS remediation.
