A new study published in the journal Nature Astronomy has revealed that early life on Earth may have survived some of the most extreme cosmic events in our universe. By studying meteorites that landed in Antarctica, researchers were able to determine that while some of the most powerful cosmic events, such as supernovae, gamma ray bursts, and asteroid impacts, would have been catastrophic for life on Earth, they would not have been strong enough to wipe out life entirely. This means that, even in the most extreme conditions, some form of life could have survived.
