Thanks to a new research project led by Ohio State University, that’s exactly what’s in store for the future of our highways. The project, dubbed “Cool Highways”, will use integrated electronics to reduce the temperature of road surfaces and save energy. Not only will this technology help to reduce greenhouse gases, but it will also reduce the amount of energy used to power our air conditioners when we’re stuck in traffic.
